Homefront hit the top of the charts last week when it released for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Kaos Studios and THQ’s debut shooter rocketed to the top of the UK sales charts despite rather mediocre reviews. In the same period, Dragon Age II saw a sharp decline quickly dropping behind Homefront to relenquish the number one spot. Pokemon White dropped to number 3, while Pokemon Black dropped to fifth overall. Other surprising newcomers were Shogun 2: Total War, which entered the UK charts at number four for the week ending March 19th.
While Homefront’s success hasn’t surprised analysts. They believe that the game will sell close to two million copies within a month of release. It just goes to show that metacritic averages aren’t everything, contrary to popular belief.
