Killzone 3 will go free to play on PlayStation Network shortly, according to Sony. The Guerrilla Games title that released last year, features one of the best multiplayer experiences on the console, despite having fairly low sales. The free to play portion of Killzone 3 will be strictly multiplayer-centric and will allow players to compete in three game modes: Guerrilla Warfare, Warzone, and Operations. Players will be able to level characters just as they do in the full version of the game, but only to a certain point.
Once players reach the rank of Seargeant they’ll be prompted to purchase the full version of the game, which will cost $15. With the full version of Killzone 3, MP players will get a 24 hour XP bonus, free unlock points that can be used to purchase special weapons and abilities for your soldier, and access to the “Bot Zone” mode which allows you to face off against cpu controlled players.
Look for the free download on the PlayStation Network shortly, as the PlayStation Blogcast said that the download would arrive as early as next week. If you’ve never played any of the Killzone titles, you’re in for a treat…and for free at that. Here’s what we thought of Killzone 3 last year upon release.
