Mortal Kombat X is just over a week from release, so today we got to check out the official launch trailer. Set to System of a Down’s “Chop Suey”, and directed by the band’s bassist Shavo Odadjian, the 2+ minute video shows off a ton of blood, guts, and carnage as it plays through a number of the cutscenes that will be featured in the upcoming fighting game. You’ll also get to check out a bunch of the characters that will be playable in Mortal Kombat X, including Sonya Blade, Raiden, Ermak, Kano, and many more. You’ll even get to see some Goro action, which is a character who is only available for those that pre-order the game.
Mortal Kombat X picks up after the extremely well received previous game. It will then jump about 25 years ahead, which offers endless opportunity for unique storytelling and characters. Many of the mostly new roster of fighters will be comprised of the descendants of previous combatants in the franchise. Some classics will return though, so fans of the series can look forward to more time with their favorites.
Mortal Kombat X will launch on April 14th for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The last-gen version was delayed, so expect the game on PS3 and Xbox 360 on June 2nd.
