Do you ever sit around and wonder how some game development studios manage to create such great experiences.  While alot may have to do with hiring on talented developers, and directors with creative vision, a lot also has to do with how a studio is managed.

One developer at Naughty Dog, who is the studio responsible for the Uncharted franchise, thinks that their company structure fosters the quality that gamers experience in an Uncharted game.  Richard Lemarchand recently spoke about the company and its upcoming game in an interview.

“It’s very flattering when we hear that we’re up there with the best of the best,” Lemarchand said.  ” I think that we’ve done it in part thanks to the co-presidents of Naughty Dog – Evan Wells and Christophe Balestra who have developed a culture which lets us do our thing.  We’re a very collaborative, non-hierarchical studio.  And I think that really brings out the best in all of us,” he continued.  ” I think that our philosophy has been to make the very best game we can make each time.  We work very hard towards that and we all tried to polish our craft over the years, and I guess it’s a nice lesson that when you fo that you wind up with great stuff at the end of the day.”

From what we’ve seen of Uncharted 3 thus far, it should be nothing short of amazing.  Naughty Dog takes the most unbelievable of circumstances and lets us play through them in shocking detail in the single player side of things, and multiplayer is certainly an interesting twist when compared to what everyone else is doing.  Lemarchand, the lead designer for Uncharted 3, is excited for the game to get in gamer’s hands stating that ” It’s certainly the biggest and most epic and jaw dropping game I’ve ever worked on.”

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception will be available exclusively on the PlayStation 3 on November 1st.
