PlayStation fans will finally get to experience party chat when the new feature arrives for the PS4 next month. Like the PlayStation Vita, the PlayStation 4 will allow users to connect with one another, in a similar fashion to what is seen on Xbox Live.
So just how many friends can get together with the PS4 Party Chat feature? According to Sid Shuman of SCEA, it’s going to support up to 8-players — like the PlayStation Vita. The information was spotted on the PlayStation Blog where Shuman was fielding fan questions in the comments section.
Party chat is a feature that PlayStation 3 fans have been clamoring for, for years. It allows groups of friends, or teammates the ability to drown out all the online noise and just chat with each other. Furthermore, it allows players across the PlayStation 4 and the PS Vita to chat with each other using the feature. Unfortunately, this cross-platform chat is not making its way to the PlayStation 3 as well.
The Party Chat feature will be free for all PlayStation users, regardless of whether or not they are subscribers to Sony’s PlayStation Plus service. The PlayStation 4 is set to arrive on November 15th.
