Playing Modern Warfare 3 Early Could Get You Banned

If you managed to procure a copy of the highly anticipated first person shooter, Modern Warfare 3, you might want to hold off before playing it.  The Director of Policy Enforcement for Xbox Live, recently announced that no one is authorized to play the game before it’s release date.

Stephen Toulouse had this to say via Twitter:

“MW3 pre-release play not authorized.  So pls be patient.  Playing early may impact your account!”

So there you have it.  If you managed to pick up a copy early, you can look, but don’t touch.  It’s hard to tell if either Microsoft or Activision will actually do anything to those that play the game early, using words like “may impact” only leave the door open to do something in the future, and it doesn’t really say if they would go as far as banning people for playing.  In any case, you should take care if you managed to get your hands on a copy earlier than expected.
