Sony is rumored to be stockpiling supply for the PlayStation 4 so that retailers will have consoles in stock come the holiday season. Â A new report out of MCV suggests that this could be the reason that retailers have stopped taking pre-orders for the console.
According to the rumor, Sony is doing this so that consumers who want to buy a PS4 but can’t because of supply, don’t go out and buy an Xbox One. Â Sony has refused to comment on this, but that’s their practice when it comes to sharing details about their production capabilities.
Having some extra stock on shelves this holiday season can’t be anything but a good thing for Sony, if true. Â The console should do well when sitting side by side with the Xbox One, considering that Microsoft’s console is $100 more expensive.
Since Sony isn’t commenting on the rumor, we’ll just have to wait and see what retailers have available later this year to find out if this is true or not.
