The Walking Dead TV series won’t be coming back until October (although we can enjoy the dubiously named spin-off series Fear the Walking Dead in just a couple months now). But for fans of the series and comics, you can sink your teeth into this. Our favorite Swedish game developers Starbreeze have announced their console publishing agreement with 505 Games. 505 Games, owned by Digital Bros, will publish Overkill’s The Walking Dead. Starbreeze will, in turn, receive a $10 million licensing fee and will enjoy royalties once the game’s hit the market. This isn’t the first time the two companies have teamed up. Fans will remember the popular Payday series, which was also a Starbreeze and 505 Games collaboration.
Overkill, a Starbreeze studio, is basing the game on Robert Kirkman’s comics. Fans should be on the look-out for a new co-op mode as well as the opportunity to explore new characters and storylines. Overkill’s The Walking Dead will be available for PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One and is slated for a 2016 release. Starbreeze Studio CEO Bo Andersson Klint said of the deal:
“Partnering with 505 Games partner with us on the console publishing for ‘Overkill’s The Walking Dead’ will streamline the distribution and marketing of the title in the traditional space and on the digital console marketplace.”
Well, either way, be on the lookout for Overkill’s The Walking Dead. As the game nears its 2016 release date, expect to hear more about what fans can expect from the Starbreeze produced title.
