The open beta for Valve’s Source Filmmaker (SFM) has arrived today. This self-proclaimed storytelling tool lets anyone create the own animated films using Valve’s Source Engine. The tools have proven very popular with Valve’s Team Fortress 2 title, and have spawned recent releases like the “Meet the Team” series of videos.

Much like the modification community that hatched from the Steam Workshop, the Source Filmmaker already highlights the best of the best from the community. You can head over to the Source Filmmaker Community page to check out some of the highest rated works by the community.

Downloading the SFM tools in beta includes assets from Team Fortress 2, as well as assets used in the Meet the Team series. You can find the beta files here.
