The Xbox 360 was once again the top selling console in North America for September. Microsoft’s console accounted for 42% of all console sales in the current-generation category. As Microsoft points out, this is the seventh month in a row where the company had held at least 40% of the group.
Microsoft pointed out once again that it is “poised to finish 2011 as the best selling console.” The company is still pointing to the momentum of Kinect and their major exclusive releases like Gears of War 3 and Forza Motorsport 4 as catalysts to drive the momentum through the holidays.
Microsoft is getting ready for the holidays not only with its exclusive titles, but will be updating the Xbox 360 dashboard to include television entertainment on the console. Adding 40 entertainment providers from the likes of Comcast, HBO, BBC, and others.
During September, Microsoft also pointed out that the Xbox 360 “held six of the top ten console game titles”.
