Xbox Head Phil Spencer Thinks Banjo In Super Smash Bros. Would be ‘Cool’

Microsoft’s Xbox division head, Phil Spencer recently commented that he thinks Banjo’s inclusion in Super Smash Bros. would be “cool”.

This comes at an interesting time when Nintendo is asking for fans to write in which character they want to be added to the fray in Super Smash Bros. as DLC. A fan recently tweeted to Phil Spencer citing this and stating that Banjo is a popular choice, basically asking his opinion on the matter. To which he replied:

“I think it would be cool if Banjo was in the next SSB DLC. We’ve worked with Nintendo on Rare IP before, no issues.”

So there you have it, apparently Phil Spencer is open to lending Banjo out to Nintendo for Super Smash Bros. DLC. This comes as a surprise as most of the big three companies tend to keep to themselves. Hopefully many more fans write in Banjo and maybe we will see this wish come to fruition and Phil Spencer will hopefully honor his statement.

Banjo of course is from Rare’s beloved action-platforming Banjo Kazooie franchise which hasn’t seen a new release in quite some time. The request for Banjo as a character in Super Smash Bros. certainly shows that fans still love him and are eager to see what the bear is up to after all this time.
