Gears of War 3 was one of the most highly touted, core Xbox 360 exclusive titles for the console in 2011. It would be easy to point the finger at Epic's masterpiece of a third person shooter and give them all the credit for another successful holiday season for the Xbox 360, but at least one analyst would beg to differ.
Gears of War 3 will get its first story DLC in the coming weeks, and it features characters from the Gears of War universe that might not be familiar to all. Alongside the character selection screenshots that were found yesterday, new images have been found that show off some colorful gameplay, featuring Barrick's glistening dome.
The next installment of DLC for Gears of War 3 is on the way and will build on the single player portion of the game. Already outed by Epic Games, the single player portion of DLC will feature prequel content for the shooter with a group of new characters to go alongside the story add-on.
Apparently the partnership between Epic Games and People Can Fly which brought about Bulletstorm went well enough that a new game is rumored to be in the works. The Official Xbox Magazine recently hinted at the possibility of a Gears of War prequel being handled by the Bulletstorm developer.
The latest content that was released for Gears of War 3 titled The Horde Command Pack was included on the retail discs that shipped with the game in September. The practice of including content on a disc that is inaccessible by the purchaser is one that is frowned upon by gamers, but Epic Games feels otherwise.
The Horde Command Pack hit a snag earlier, but apparently that snag has been fixed as the DLC for Gears of War 3 is live on the Xbox Live Marketplace. The Horde Command Pack features three new maps, three new playable characters, two new weapon skins, and new Horde fortification upgrades.
