Resident Evil 6 may have tainted the series for some fans, but the franchise never scared away too many gamers. The recently released Resident Evil 7 demo has already been downloaded over 2 million times.

Capcom announced via a press release today that the Resident Evil 7 demo was downloaded over 2 million times by fans worldwide. This is an impressive number considering you needed PlayStation Plus to access it. Some people I know bought a PlayStation Plus subscription just to play the demo itself.

Capcom also announced that the demo was the most downloaded single player PS4 demo in its first seven days of release in North America. Capcom thanked the fans by saying: “We would like to thank all our fans for the feedback and support – the nail-biting exploration and terrifying atmosphere in the demo is just a taste of what can be expected when the game releases on January 24, 2017.”

Resident Evil 7 is looking like it is going to become a fan favorite. The new first-person style perspective adds a new experience to the franchise. Not to mention the game is playable from beginning to end on the PlayStation VR device.
