The remasters look like they are still coming as a South African retailer has listed Dead Island Definitive Edition.
South African retailer, loot.co.za has just listed Dead Island Definitive Edition for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One platforms.
It has a placeholder release date of November 13th, 2015. This release date seems feasible as it’s on a Friday. Most games in South Africa are released on that day.
Other than the title of the game and a possible release date, no other additional information was given about the Dead Island Definitive Edition.
It goes without saying this is likely to be an HD remaster for the first game in the series. At this rate, it looks like the whole back catalog of PS3 and Xbox 360 games will eventually have a remaster on PS4 and Xbox One.
Deep Silver may have decided to do this since the status of Dead Island 2 is still up in the air. It was revealed last week that Deep Silver dropped the developer for the sequel.
The original developer for Dead Island, Techland, decided to branch off from Deep Silver and they went on to make Dying Light instead.
Dead Island Definitive Edition is probably coming out to make fans happy until the sequel eventually releases. Since the sequel needs a new developer, it’s likely we won’t see it anytime soon.
