Driveclub for the PlayStation VR will arrive on October 13th, according to an announcement recently made by Sony. Â Available as both a disc-based release and via digital download, the game will be priced at $39.99.
However, for those who purchased the Season Pass for Driveclub on the PlayStation 4 they can upgrade to the PSVR version for $19.99. Â The one caveat is that you had to be a Season Pass owner of the original game as of September 28th, 2016.
Driveclub VR is a standalone title built for Sony’s soon to be released virtual reality headset. Â A post on the PlayStation Blog claims that the game has been ‘reengineered’ Â “to render everything in stereoscopic 3D, natively at 60Hz, and then adding the head tracking with 120Hz visuals.”
The original Driveclub launched back in 2014, and the highly anticipated driving title did not arrive without problems. Â While it looked fantastic on the PlayStation 4, many of the online features that the game was built around did not work as expected. Â It took the developers many months and plenty of apologizing to fans to get it right.
We took a look at a prototype for Driveclub VR back at the PlayStation Experience in December and came away thinking it was one of the most promising things we saw at the convention.
Driveclub VR will launch side by side with the PSVR headset, which is due out on October 13th as well.
