News is excruciatingly slim when it comes to anything The Last of Us-related these days, as the many fans of the first game wait for a sequel announcement. While news for the next game is hard to come by, things don’t look much better for the movie adaptation that is also in production.

Sam Raimi is attached to the project as a producer, and he recently shared some new information on the movie with IGN. Raimi revealed that there have been disagreements on which direction the movie should go, which is the big reason for the delay. He said the following:

“[Sony] have their own plans for it and I think Neil’s plan for it, I’m not trying to be political, Neil’s plan for it is not the same as Sony’s. And because my company doesn’t have the rights, I actually can’t help him too much.”

He goes on to say “If they do move forward I’d love to help them again. Right now it’s just sitting there. They don’t want to move forward, and it’s not my place to say why, and Neil, I think, is in a slight disagreement with [Sony] about how things should go so there’s a standstill.”

The Last of Us launched for PlayStation 3 in 2013, which then got re-released on PlayStation 4 in 2014 as The Last of Us Remastered.
