The months of August through October are typically the big months for sports games, though this year it has been condensed into only August and September with NBA 2K17 coming out early this year. With no NBA Live to compete head to head with this year, NBA 2K17 is the only basketball option out and with the release almost here, the game has officially gone gold.

This news came courtesy of the official Facebook page for NBA 2K17 that posted only a couple hours ago as of the time of this writing “We are GOLD. Literally.” In addition to this, they also included a picture of the regular version on PS4 and the Gold Edition on Xbox One in their boxes and all, which you can see on the right.

NBA 2K17 is following a similar release structure as last year where the game itself technically doesn’t release until Tuesday, September 20, but those who pre-order the game or even just pick up the Tip-Off Edition can get the came this coming Friday, September 16.

Also for those that can’t wait until then and want to get a jump on the action, you can go ahead and download the NBA 2K17 The Prelude demo, as well as the face scanning mobile app, to get a jump on the competition in MyCareer mode.

This demo even has some achievements/trophies that you can read about in our guide that tells you exactly how to unlock them, which you can find right here.
