Microsoft seems to be on the upswing recently as the Xbox One has now managed to outsell the PS4 console for a few months now.
NPD reports that the Xbox One was the best selling console in the United States in September 2016. This is the third month in a row that Microsoft’s console has outsold the PS4.
The reason Microsoft has been on the upswing is thanks to the new Slim console that came out recently. The Slim console is the cheapest 4K Blu-ray player in the market and it also outputs games in HDR.
Microsoft also gave a statement to VentureBeat that the Xbox One was also the best selling console in the UK in September. It was also the only 8th gen console to grow in sales compared to September 2015 in the countries of the USA, UK and Australia.
Forza Horizon 3 was also named as the best selling first party title of the month. The game received great reviews when it came out and is one of the best racing games of the entire year.
It will be interesting to see if Microsoft can keep the momentum up in October. Gears of War 4 leads the charge, although Sony might catch up thanks to the buzz of the PlayStation VR device.
