Konami is taking the fight to EA when it comes to licensed teams. PES 2017 will be getting a new English Premier League team that is expected to be announced at Gamescom 2016.
Squawka had a chance to interview Adam Bhatti who is the community manager for the PES series. When asked if another English Premier League team will be included in PES 2017, Bhatti answered with a confident “yes”.
When the website asked him for further clues, he just said: “Manchester United have recently signed a partnership with EA. That’s as much as I can say about [the Premier League licences] until Gamescom.”
Arsenal is the other Premier League team that is officially licensed for this year’s game. It sounds like we have to wait for Gamescom 2016 to know what the other team will be. The big gaming event will be happening later this month over in Germany.
In other PES news, Bhatti revealed that the full stadium list will be revealed at Gamescom 2016 as well. The stadium list will be much larger than last year. Bhatti admits that Konami cannot go into a bidding war with EA when it comes to licenses, but they still hope to stay competitive. PES was well received last year and this game could be similar.
