Despite not being announced at E3 2016, it’s still expected that Sony will release the PS4 Neo later this year and an official reveal for the console is coming very soon.

According to many sources that have spoken to Eurogamer, the PS4 Neo is still planned to come out later this year sometime. Looking ahead at the rest of the year, there are many other big events that Sony can use to reveal the console.

Not to mention Sony could be adopting the “Apple” approach of revealing/releasing new hardware. Apple usually announces new gadgets that come out roughly one week later or so. If Sony announces the PS4 Neo at Paris Games Week in October, it’s possible the console could be out in November in time for the Holiday season.

It will be interesting to see if Sony still releases the Neo this year with the Xbox One Project Scorpio coming out in Fall 2017. Many expect that the Scorpio will be the more powerful machine, although official specs have yet to be released for either console.

It’s possible Sony want to release the Neo early to stay ahead of Microsoft at the moment. Not to mention Sony also has the PlayStation VR headset due out on October 13th, 2016.
