Non-Xbox One owning Tomb Raider fans can worry no more, they will be able to enjoy the continuing adventures of Lara Croft very soon. Square Enix has announced that Rise of the Tomb Raider will be available on PC in early 2016, and PS4 in Holiday 2016.
Controversy surrounded the announcement that Rise of the Tomb Raider would be an Xbox Exclusive title, hitting the Xbox 360 and Xbox One late this year. However, the exclusivity had a catch to it, it was only timed, meaning it could go to other consoles some unknown time later. Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics were quiet on the topic, merely saying that the exclusivity was temporary, but now we have all of the details.
“Square Enix today announced its latest title in the critically acclaimed and award-winning Tomb Raider series, Rise of the Tomb Raider, will be available for Windows 10 and Steam in early 2016,” reads the press release. “The game will be a console exclusive to Xbox One and Xbox 360 for one year after its initial launch, coming to PlayStation 4 (PS4) in Holiday 2016.”
Rise of the Tomb Raider continues the story begun in the 2013 reboot of the long-running franchise. It tells the story of how Lara Croft became the adventurer we first saw in the original Tomb Raider game, while offering a different take on the series than was seen before.
Rise of the Tomb Raider hits Xbox 360 and Xbox One on November 10th, 2015, PC in early 2016, and PS4 in Holiday 2016.
