Activision has been known for awhile as one of the kings of annual franchises with not only the Call of Duty series, but also the very popular Skylanders series. Since 2011, the Skylanders series has pumped out one game a year on nearly every console, as well as the Nintendo 3DS. Rumors surfaced earlier this week about the 2015 entry in the series, complete with details, and now an Amazon listing that was up for a very short time has seemingly confirmed these rumors.
Thanks to Skylanders Characters List, we have images of the Amazon listing that gives us plenty of information about SuperChargers.
- Starter Pack Includes: Video Game, New Portal of Power, 2 Skylanders SuperChargers – Spitfire and Super Shot Stealth Elf, 1 Skylanders Vehicle – Hot Steak, and Collection Poster featuring the complete set of Skylanders Superchargers and their vehicles.
- Skylands is in peril! Kaos has unleashed his most evil weapon yet – the Doomstation of Ultimate Doomstruction.
- With all of Skylands on the verge of collapse, a special team called the SuperChargers has been assembled to pilot an unstoppable fleet of incredible vehicles.
- Now you and the SuperChargers must embark on epic adventures over land, under sea, and through the sky to stop Kaos and save Skylands!
It looks like Kaos is back yet again as the main villain, which is becoming all the more common with this series. The SuperChargers are evidently the latest new group of Skylanders that will be introduced, which seem to use some sort of vehicles. Vehicles sound like they will be the major new feature in SuperChargers, something that could freshen up the series.
The disappointing part is that it appears we will have to purchase yet another portal, making the Starter pack a requirement yet again. It really would be nice if they could make a standardized portal that could last a few years at least and focus on expanding the game itself. At the worst, they could make an attachment to the portal or something.
It is also interesting that Amazon only had page listings for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Wii U, WIi, and 3DS, leaving out Xbox One and Xbox 360 entirely. It is likely they are still coming and just was a mistake, especially considering the early listing was a mistake in of itself. Activision is bound to reveal this in the next couple weeks or at E3 at the latest, so we are not far away at all.
