Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has been successful for Square Enix garnering over 5 million players. However, one platform still doesn’t have the game and that’s Microsoft’s Xbox One. There is also the Nintendo NX too.

DualShockers had a chance to speak with Naoki Yoshida who is the producer for the game. The topic of porting the game onto the Xbox One was brought up.

Initially, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn was not going to be on Xbox One because Microsoft didn’t support cross-platform play. The company has changed its tune over the years as Xbox One and Windows 10 will have cross-platform play.

Yoshida said that it could be possible, but there are still some concerns as the game will have to have cross-platform play across the PS4 and PS3 versions too. He also mentioned Square Enix is not sure how widespread Windows 10 will be, but they’re still talking with Microsoft on a port.

When asked whether the game will be ported to the Nintendo NX as well, Square Enix is unsure. Yoshida would still like to know when the console will be out and Square Enix also needs to talk with Nintendo over their policy for cross-platform play as well.

Square Enix would love to make Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn available to lots of gamers. However, it’s up to Microsoft and Nintendo to allow them to do it.
