The early critics and fans have bestowed a ton of praise on Bioware’s recently released MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic. Â With that, fans have flocked to the subscription based title in droves. Â So much so that the MMO has been crowned ‘The Fastest Growing MMO in History’.
With tens of millions of in-game hours already logged into the new game by over a million new users since launch, Bioware’s Dr. Ray Muzyka had this to say about the successful release.
“Already over a million players strong after our December 20 launch, The Old Republic has become the fastest growing subscription MMO in the history of our industry. Â Everyone at Bioware, EA and LucasArts is honored – and humbled – by the stellar response from our fans. Â We’re going to work together closely with our community in the weeks, months and years ahead, continually serving our audience with regular delivery of compelling new features and content.”
As seems to be the case with most MMOs, The Old Republic launch has not been without its problems. Â Long server queues and a hefty problematic install have given some users fits, though once inside the massive game it’s hard to find fault with the extremely polished brand of MMO with the distinct Bioware feel.
