Last month saw the release of Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall 2, which delivered the series’ first-ever single player campaign. Despite the game being critically-acclaimed, the game did not sell well due to an unfortunate release time. While EA has said that they’re looking more at the game’s long-term sales rather than opening week numbers, it has nevertheless put the series’ future in doubt.
This issue was explored more in a new interview that Respawn CEO Vince Zampella had with Glixel, where he was asked about whether or not we would ever see a Titanfall 3. He said the following:
“We don’t know yet. The game is, critically, a huge success. We’re really happy with all the reviews and the positive sentiment. Sales, it’s too early to tell. We’d definitely like to tell more of the story and the universe. I think it’s pretty safe to assume that we’ll explore more of it.”
The sales of Titanfall 2 are all the more disappointing considering the fact that it also launched on more platforms than the original game did, and failed to match that game’s opening week numbers.
Titanfall 2 is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. You can check out our review by clicking right here.
