Even before sales of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End are taken into account, the series as a whole has amassed over 28 million units in sales. The newest game is expected to make this number grow even higher.
Fox Business had a chance to interview Sony’s Shawn Layden and he mentioned that the overall series as a whole has “sold more than 28 million copies“. This is an impressive number considering the series is exclusive only to the PlayStation brand.
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is expected to sell really well, although there are only 40 million PS4 consoles out there. It’s hard to tell how many copies it will sell, but Fox Business quoted analyst, Michael Pachter, that the game could sell between 7 to 10 million copies during its lifetime.
However, Pachter notes that selling over 10 million copies might be difficult since it is exclusive to the PS4 console only. Having an attach rate of over 25 percent is unlikely to happen, although there are people out there that will buy a PS4 just to simply play A Thief’s End.
It’s too early for Sony and Naughty Dog to share sales numbers, but A Thief’s End is likely to be the PS4’s best seller of PS4. The only other PS4 exclusive that might do better is Gran Turismo Sport.
