343 Industries has now gone into more detail as to why they decided to change the voice actor for Spartan Locke in Halo 5: Guardians.

As you may have known already, Mike Colter was the original voice actor for Spartan Locke. However earlier this year, the character will now be voiced by Ike Amadi.

343 Industries’ Frank O’Connor posted over on NeoGAF the reason why they decided to make the change. The big reason is because Marvel came calling to Colter.

He said:Mike got offered (IMO) the role of a lifetime from Marvel, and so we either held him to our schedule or rejoiced in the idea of a live action Luke Cage TV series and let him fly free like a gold-shirted eagle.

And Ike was one of our original choices and has a wonderful voice. So everything worked out beautifully for everyone.”

This is a nice gesture for 343 Industries to do. Halo 5: Guardians is a big game, but they didn’t want to hold back Colter’s Hollywood career. A role like the Luke Cage TV series from Marvel does not come to an actor’s lap very often.

343 Industries is happy with Ike as Colter’s replacement. It will be interesting to see if Colter comes back for Halo 6 if Spartan Locke survives that is…
