Update: Things should be working fine now.
It looks like Xbox Live is currently down and many users cannot log-in to their consoles.
The official Xbox website shows that Xbox Live is down for most devices. The service is limited for both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles. Most apps and services have the dreaded “Limited” status on them.
According to Paradiger, they report that Xbox Live is down due to a new hacker group. This hacker group is calling themselves “TeamBudyBear”. Their twitter account says that they have taken down Xbox Live.
They said:
“We’re doing these attacks to show everyone how bad big company’s care about security. We as teenagers know how to fix their servers. Pathetic.”
It looks like they’re taking down Xbox Live to prove a point. This is a similar reason as to why Lizard Squad did what they did last year. They claimed to have done DDOS attacks simply to prove that big corporations are unable to secure their own networks.
Hundreds of people are experiencing that Xbox Live is down. You can just look on Twitter to see all of the comments from upset people.
Microsoft has yet to comment on the situation. We will be sure to update this story when we know more details.
