Microsoft made a big deal about exactly when the “Biggest Sale Ever” would begin on Xbox Live, and then they went ahead and started it a little early anyway. The “Countdown” sale as it is now a little inappropriately called has officially begun on Xbox Live. Starting now and going until January 7th you can get big discounts on Xbox 360 and Xbox One games, with some hitting their lowest price ever on the console.

The current slate of deals runs until December 28th, so if you like what you see, you’d better grab it while you can. A new set of discounts will begin the day after and then run until the conclusion of the sale, after the new year. There will also be the usual Daily Deal fare, giving steeper discounts on already low priced items. Many of the discounts are enhanced by having an Xbox Live gold membership, with subscribers receiving an additional 10% off the already discounted price.

There’s far too many sales to list them all here, but you can head over to Microsoft’s site to see them all. Some highlights include Batman: Arkham Knight for 35% off, Borderlands: The Handsome Collection for 60% off, Destiny: The Taken King for 35% off, GTA V for 40% off, and Halo 5: Guardians for 20% off. These are the Xbox Live Gold prices though, so if you don’t have Microsoft’s online service the discount will be a bit smaller for you.

Daily Deals have also already begun, with the PopCap Bundle being dropped by 50%, Need for Speed on Xbox One being lowered by 60%, and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit on Xbox 360 dropping a huge 80%.

This time of year almost every gaming service will have some sort of sale on. The annual Steam Winter Sale is set to begin later today, and expect discounts on Sony and Nintendo’s online stores as well.
