Xbox’s Phil Spencer Is Not A Fan Of Xbox One vs. PS4 Console War

Console wars have been going on for a couple decades now, with PS4 and Xbox One being the latest to really square off. We saw plenty of shade being thrown by Sony at Microsoft after the whole Xbox One always online reveal, but now the tables have somewhat been turned with some recent announcements by Sony. However, the head of Xbox isn’t exactly condoning those types of responses.

Sony has definitely been put through the ringer the last few days by many gamers for a few different reasons. First of all, the PS4 Pro was not as well received as they had hoped, especially with the inability to play 4K Blu-ray discs, which even the Xbox One S can do currently. Xbox’s social media accounts and other PR had featured some subtle jabs at this, and that continued yesterday with the announcement that Fallout 4 and Skyrim – Special Edition would not have mods on PS4 due to decisions by Sony.

As a result of these comments being made, someone asked Xbox head Phil Spencer on Twitter about how he had previously stated he hated console wars, yet Xbox employees were putting up “shade” towards Sony online the last few days, in which Spencer had the following to say.

I’ve been public about my dislike of the negative dialog. We should stay focused on what we are building for Xbox gamers.”

Spencer’s dislike for these type of comments goes against a little of what has happened the last few days, but what has been done so far is still very harmless and just taking advantage of a situation when they could. Spencer himself may stay away from saying anything negative about his competitors, with him even praising them in the past, but I wouldn’t be surprised to still see a little more of what we’ve seen this week from Microsoft as they hope to continue their recent two month streak over the PS4 in sales numbers.
