DICE has finally released the long awaited patch for Battlefield 3 on PlayStation 3 that fixes the VOIP problems that have persisted since launch.  Weighing in at only 11MB the lightweight fix should be a quick download for most.  PS3 users are confirming that the patch is alleviating the long standing communication issues.
Aside from the communication fixes, PlayStation 3 players will also find that the USAS-12 Shotgun has been balanced, as well as a retooling of the M-COM Defender/Attack Ribbon, making it easier to get post patch.
While some fans are definitely starting to get annoyed by the rebalancing and “nerfing” of equipment in the game, one thing that everyone can applaud DICE on, is the communication fix that is a vital component of any online experience.
The update will automatically download and apply upon signing on to the PSN and starting Battlefield 3.
It is rumored that DICE will reveal an upcoming DLC pack for Battlefield 3 this week at an Electronic Arts in event in New York.
Update: Today’s Patch addressed VOIP concerns only, other fixes coming in later patch.
