Yet again, the Xbox One Backwards Compatibility list is expanding, adding a classic game from the CoD franchise. Call of Duty 3, the first full game developed by Treyarch for the series is now available to play on Xbox One via Backwards Compatibility. Anyone who owns the original game digitally on Xbox 360 can simply download and play the game, while those with a disc copy just need to insert it to prompt the download.

Xbox One Backwards Compatibility has been a fan favorite feature ever since it was added last year. Since its inception, the availability of new games has exploded, with well over 200 titles being playable via the service.

The Call of Duty series has been slowly arriving on Xbox One. Fans clamored for Black Ops to be added, and it was, with Call of Duty 2 and 3 also being available now. There are still a lot that can be added though, which Microsoft and Activision are certainly working on behind the scenes.

Call of Duty 3 is a World War 2 shooter, fitting with the earlier games in the series. It was followed by the iconic Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, which will be remastered and released along with the upcoming Infinite Warfare.
