With Nintendo giving more attention to third party and core titles with its upcoming Wii U, it would only be fair to assume that many of the big third party titles of late 2012/13 and beyond, would grace the console. Â Crysis 3 will likely be one of the biggest multiplatform titles of 2013, but it appears that it will not be heading to Nintendo’s next console.
While Crytek didn’t come out and say it, a director from the development house told Destructoid that there’s “not a fat chance” of Crysis coming to Wii U. Â “I don’t think it’s going to be possible,” Rasmus Hoejengaard explained. “It’s not in the cards.”
Are we to assume that Crysis 3 isn’t coming to the Wii U because of technical shortcomings of the console? Â Or is it simply a matter of the developers not wanting to port the game to another system? Â Hoejengaard did also tell reporters that development for Crysis 3 started with the latest iteration of Crysis 2 and worked its way from there.
If the Wii U becomes a sensation with core gamers, you could see Crytek singing a different tune, as they likely wouldn’t give up the opportunity to make more cash from the game. Â We’ll have to wait and see, but for now, “Fat Chance” on Crysis 3 for Nintendo Wii U.
Crytek did release the first gameplay footage of Crysis 3 earlier today, and its a remarkably good looking title. Â With the developer already claiming the game to be the spirtual successor to the original Crysis, 2013 can’t come fast enough for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 releases.
