Nintendo kicked off the first official day of E3 2016 with a big reveal of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, what we used to refer to simply as The Legend of Zelda Wii U. The announcement of the official title was huge news, giving fans even more to speculate about before the game hits next year. However, one piece of the trailer caught the attention of fans more than any other.

Voice acting appears to be in the game. We can’t be sure for now due to the way the trailer was structured. It didn’t actually show any character speaking on screen, but there was a voice in the trailer which already is more than what we’ve seen from Zelda before.

If this turns out to be true and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has voice acting then it really changes the series in big ways. There has been a lot of debate about voice acting being added to the Zelda series, with some fans feeling like it should never be introduced. Many more seem to want the feature though, though most agree that Link himself does not need to speak.

The voice in the trailer seems to be from Zelda herself, beckoning Link to wake up. Link never speaks, so we could be getting this fan-favorite solution, rather than full blown voice acting for every character. Nintendo will be going over more details about the game throughout the rest of E3 2016. We’ll also be getting some hands-on time with the game ourselves, so watch for the impressions there. You can be sure we’ll be asking if it has voice acting, or if that was just for the trailer.
