The Rocky movie series is now 40 years old, with many movies being released that have been wildly popular and even resulting in a spin-off last year. While the series has spawned some video game releases over the years, they are mostly games that many are better just forgetting even exist. However, to celebrate the series’ 40th anniversary a new game has been released on the app store that is entirely free. You can check out the game in action through the official trailer at the bottom of this post.
The game is simply called Rocky, with the game being released by mobile publisher Tapinator. The game is (obviously) a boxing game that has you performing combos, countering and dodging enemy attacks, with the game’s roster featuring iconic Rocky rivals like Apollo Creed, Clubber Lang and Ivan Drago. There’s plenty more to choose from than just these characters, however, as the game features 37 unlockable characters.
There will also be player progression as you rank up your “team of fearsome boxers,” fighting real-life players across the globe while improving (or worsening) your win-loss record. Of course, if things get too tough then you can head to the gym and train with the series’ iconic Mickey Goldmill. It’s at the game’s gym where you will improve your character’s stats like Strength, Endurance, Dexterity, Intelligence, and Technique, and Mickey will be shouting at you from the sidelines to motivate you.
Regular gameplay will also reward you with Fighter, Victory and Resource packs, which have the potential to reward you with a 4-star boxer.
You can download the game for free by clicking right here, but be aware that you will need an iPhone 5, iPad 3, iPad Mini or better to be able to run the game properly. You can check out the game’s trailer below.
