Take-Two Interactive, owner of studios such as Rockstar Games and 2K Games, have announced that they’ll be releasing a new, and as of yet unannounced, game in 2016. The news comes as Take-Two announced their financial results for the period ending September 2015, in which they recorded a $55 million profit.
Speaking on their upcoming games, company president Karl Slatoff had this to say: “Our worldwide development teams are working on numerous unannounced projects, including new intellectual properties, and offerings from our established franchises.”
Strauss Zelnick, Take Two’s CEO, also commented, stating that at least one new game will release in 2016. Unfortunately, Zelnick didn’t clarify whether the new game would be from an existing franchise or a new IP altogether. With regards to their existing franchises, it’s safe to say that fans will be hoping that Red Dead Redemption makes its long-awaited return with a sequel. It’s been five years since Red Dead Redemption released, and last year saw Take Two confirm the series as a “permanent franchise.” Alternatively, the once PlayStation 3 exclusive Agent could be re-revealed and released – whether this game still exists, and still remains a PlayStation exclusive, remains to be seen.
With both the Game Awards and the PlayStation Experience still yet to come, there’s a decent chance that we might see Take-Two’s new game this calendar year.
