A tiny detail in Red Dead Redemption 2 went unnoticed for 7 years, players finally investigated and what they found has left the community speechless

Rockstar's been hiding this the whole time.

Red Dead Redemption 2 players just found a huge mystery called the “Spider Dream Mystery.” The community is now racing to solve it before GTA 6 comes out. The game launched in 2018 and is packed with side quests, hidden items, and treasures. But this new puzzle has left players stunned.

More than seven years after release, players have spotted spider webs that only appear at certain times of day. According to Dexerto, these webs led them to a secret message. Now the RDR2 community is working together to crack this wild mystery that went unnoticed for almost 10 years.

The mystery begins at a telephone pole near Cornwall Kerosene & Tar. The pole has a carved spider symbol on it. At the top sits a web with a feather, but it only appears during a very short time window. The spider carving points toward seven more webs that follow the same pattern.

This time-locked Easter egg changes everything we know about the game

These webs only show up late at night, usually between 2-3 AM or 3-4 AM, then disappear outside those hours. In the center is a separate larger web that appears earlier, between 1-2 AM. This one has no feathers and lines up to form an “N” shape next to a telephone pole.

Players then went straight north from the center webs to another telephone pole they could interact with by shooting it. After clearing some wood away, they found an inscription reading “W” along with five telephone poles. Many console players are also clearing hidden storage settings on PS5 to make room for their investigation work.

After moving five poles west, players found another pole they could shoot. Hitting it showed a second inscription reading “NW” with a symbol that looks like a guitar.

That’s where the puzzle stops for now. Going northwest does lead to a guitar in Fort Wallace, but interacting with it triggers nothing. It also leads to Spider Gorge, but the trail has gone cold there.

The feathers are called “spiderdream” in the game’s files, which is how the mystery got its name. Players are now trying to shoot the feathers in a specific order and searching the map for other clues.

But right now, the community hasn’t made any more progress. YouTube creator Strange Man has documented everything found so far and is pushing hunters to solve this before GTA 6 launches in November 2026. Meanwhile, former developers have shared insights about what Rockstar will charge for GTA 6 when it releases.
