‘Are you 5?’: Florida Woman snaps at her friend after she rudely rejected orders at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, the reason she did it is unbelievable

Sorry, but that's unacceptable.

A woman from Tampa, Florida, recently revealed she was forced to cut off a long-time friend after witnessing her shockingly rude behavior at an upscale Ruth’s Chris steakhouse, an incident that exposed a deep-seated pattern of faking complaints to avoid paying for meals. The situation came to a head when Ohana Star, who shared the dramatic experience in a viral TikTok post, realized her friend was deliberately sending back perfectly good food because she was simply “too broke” to afford the bill.

The breaking point happened when the friends dined at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. Star says she knew exactly what was coming the moment the waiter placed the wedge salad down. “She goes, ‘I didn’t ask for this. I asked for lettuce and ranch. That’s it,’” Star recalls her friend telling the waiter, despite the waiter confirming she had ordered the standard side salad off the menu.

Star’s patience completely evaporated at that moment. “I about d— near snapped,” she admitted. “I look at her, and I say, ‘Are you 5? Who eats lettuce and ranch?’” The waiter, trying to accommodate the bizarre request, brought out a new salad consisting only of plain lettuce and ranch dressing. Unbelievably, the friend still wasn’t satisfied and sent the second dish back as well.

It turns out this is a widespread, awful strategy customers use to try and get free food

“She’s being rude as f— to the staff. She’s sending back lettuce and ranch. We’re in a nice-a– steakhouse,” Star ranted, noting that this behavior was absolutely unacceptable. The confrontation escalated quickly, with the friend standing up and throwing a fit, telling Star to just send her steak back too as she stormed out.

Star explains that this was the culmination of a pattern she had noticed for a while. Initially, she had been incredibly generous, offering to pay for her friend’s meals whenever she knew they were going to expensive restaurants and her friend was tight on cash. “I do not care if you have no money. If I want to go eat, Imma pay for you,” she explained, setting a great example of true friendship.

However, the friend continued to take advantage of that kindness. Star decided she had to set a boundary, which meant the friend had to start paying for her own meals again. Star realized her friend was creating fake complaints just to get dishes knocked off the tab. While she sympathized with her friend’s financial struggles, she drew the absolute line at how the friend treated the innocent restaurant workers, who are mostly dealing with a crisis of their own.

Star ultimately cut off the friendship entirely due to the unacceptable behavior, and she even stopped being friends with another mutual acquaintance who seemed to enable the poor conduct. Viewers who watched the viral account were overwhelmingly supportive of Star’s decision to end the friendship. Many former restaurant staff members thanked her for speaking up, since they often aren’t able to confront rude customers themselves, even after being inundated with bizarre orders.

One viewer shared a truly shocking anecdote, revealing, “I had a friend tell me she put a hair in her food bc she didn’t want to pay, never spoke to her again after that.” Other commenters offered much healthier and less destructive ways to handle financial constraints while dining out. Instead of resorting to rude, deceptive behavior, one person suggested, “She could just eat before going & just get a lil drink or appetizer. Or not go. So may other options besides what she was doing.”

That’s great advice, honestly. If you can’t afford the entree, just grab a soda and enjoy the company. There’s no excuse for treating staff terribly.
