No matter if it’s your first car or not, buying a brand-new vehicle, especially from a dealership, is another level of excitement for everyone. This woman at Keating Chevrolet in Conroe, Texas, was having a similar feeling, but it ended up becoming a lesson for her later. It looks like she ended up celebrating early, like this Marathon runner, and then was left stranded at the dealership over an odd deal that seemed promising at first.
As reported by Brobible, the TikToker @tishok00 shared her weird experience from a Chevrolet dealership on her car purchase. Her real name, which appears to be Nat, made a normal visit to the dealership with her husband to purchase a vehicle. Similar to a regular deal, they completed all the paperwork, brought in their documents, and made the down payment as well.
In return, she got the receipt of her $5,000 down payment, buyer’s copy of her deal, and then the dealership claimed that she could expect the remaining documents through email. Sounds simple, right? That’s what Nat thought as well, and drove off from the dealership, considering the deal was finalized. Later, her husband was stranded at the dealership as they had unwelcoming news for the couple.
It looks like the lenders couldn’t trust the couple due to a lack of information
As weird as it sounds, this incident was so unsettling for Nat that she said, “Please, don’t ever come to Keating Chevrolet,” to her viewers. When they happily left the dealership on the purchase day, she got a call the very next day, saying that Nat needed to send in her verification documents, the same ones she had already given. Well, she sent them again, and this time she was quite sure that the deal was finally done.
The TikToker said, “They told us our payments, told us we were paying $425 a month, told us that everything was already finalized, and told us that they were gonna get in contact with the dealership and that everything was gonna continue.” However, the dealership kept reaching out to her and asked for other documents, such as her husband’s driver’s license and reference sheet. Well, upon sending everything requested, there was no sign of satisfaction from the seller’s side.
As a result, her husband decided to visit the dealership. “They tell us that none of the lenders that they sent all of our information to have approved us— that, basically, the car is not ours and that we cannot drive the car.” This left her husband stranded at the dealership with their personal items stuck in the car. The couple decided to visit again, and later they called off the deal with their money returned.
Judging by this weird situation, which most of us may have fallen for in excitement, it can remind us of “yo-yo financing.” This type of delivery lets you take the car away, only for the seller to call you later to say that the financing fell through. There is no further information on Nat’s purchase about what precisely happened, so everything said is nothing more than speculation. In these types of deals, the buyer is then asked for another contract to continue their purchase, which may have higher interest rates.
Nat has already issued a warning for new buyers, saying, “To my new buyers, do not sign a ‘conditional delivery agreement. Don’t. I wouldn’t even recommend you buying a car from a dealership at this point.” We can’t say anything about this incident, but if we focus on the bright side, it looks like Nat and her husband got to drive a brand new car, which Texas roads are said to destroy in weeks, just to get a full refund later!
