A Rockstar Games developer named Saikat Koley recently responded to a fan on social media who was asking for “good news” about GTA 6. His comments were directed at Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, who is well known for accurately leaking information about the game. Shortly after posting, Koley deleted his account.
Schreier has been one of the biggest sources of GTA 6 leaks for years, even reporting details about the first trailer hours before Rockstar officially announced it. Rockstar reportedly even considered pushing back the announcement just to “screw with” Schreier and his story. With fans hoping for a third trailer and more marketing to begin in May, many have been looking to Schreier to deliver updates.
Koley, however, had a clear message about that. “We don’t want him snooping to our company and project,” he said. According to Dexerto, this is notable because Rockstar has been extremely quiet about GTA 6, and the company recently delayed it to November 19, 2026, saying they need to “finish the game with the level of polish” that fans “have come to expect and deserve.”
Rockstar’s war on GTA 6 leaks is getting personal, and the developer’s rare public comment shows just how seriously the company is taking it
Koley speaking out was a rare moment, as Rockstar developers almost never publicly comment on the game. It signals that the people working on GTA 6 are frustrated with outside reporting on their project, and that the company’s strict no-leak policy goes beyond just official statements. GTA 6 has already attracted controversy from multiple directions, including Russia threatening to ban the game over a specific in-game addition.
This is not the first time Rockstar has taken action against leaks. In March, the company revealed that they had fired developers over leaks, which came out amid a related lawsuit. That move showed Rockstar is willing to take serious steps to protect the game. The fact that an employee felt strongly enough to break the company’s well-known silence speaks volumes about how tense things have become internally around outside reporting on GTA 6.
After posting his comments, Koley disappeared from social media entirely, leaving fans with more questions than answers. It is unclear whether he deleted his accounts on his own or was asked to do so by Rockstar. Either way, the swift exit only added more fuel to the speculation surrounding the game and what is happening behind the scenes at the studio.
What makes this situation particularly interesting is that Schreier’s reporting on GTA 6 has generally been accurate and widely respected within the gaming community. His past scoops have been proven right time and again, which is likely part of why Rockstar finds his reporting so frustrating. For a studio that guards its projects as closely as Rockstar does, having a reliable outside source consistently breaking news before they are ready is clearly a sore point.
In related news, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick recently pushed back on comments made by Elon Musk about AI making game development faster, reports Benzinga. Zelnick said, “If AI were going to get rid of employment, the richest man on Earth, Elon Musk, knows a little something about AI, the last time I checked.”
With the November 19, 2026 release date getting closer, Rockstar is clearly working hard to keep everything under wraps. Meanwhile, not everyone has been a loyal GTA fan, one multi-billionaire who quit GTA 5 over a specific in-game requirement made headlines for his reaction to the game.
