People who buy the Xbox One will need to have some sort of access to internet at least once every 24 hours. This isn’t new news, but, response to the controversial feature of online check-ins have been largely negative.
E3 2013 was seen as the place where Microsoft could explain why its a benefit to gamers, and a feature that would move the gaming industry forward. Unfortunately, that’s just not happening, and Microsoft isn’t doing themselves any favors with recent comments from Don Mattrick.
In a E3 Interview, Mattrick explained the alternative for those who want an Xbox One, but don’t have access to the internet. “We have a product for people who aren’t able to get some form of connectivity; it’s called Xbox 360,” the executive explained to Game Trailers.
And when asked about fan outcry over the features, Mattrick continued to dig the hole deeper.
“It’s very important to them and they’re opinionated. And they’re smart. So they look at all those things and say ‘Hey, is this going to impact me in a negative way?’ And until you use it, it’s really hard to understand what all the advantages are.”
The problem is, these aren’t exactly features that the general consumers are going to be able to see/use, prior to making a purchasing decision of the new console. Furthermore, the Xbox team at E3 isn’t exactly explaining these great uses of cloud technology.
