EA have released a new trailer showing off the personalization features available in the upcoming Need for Speed Rivals, developed by Swedish outfit Ghost Games and coming to current and next-gen systems this November.
While Criterion’s recent entry in the series, Need for Speed: Most Wanted eschewed lots of visual customization options for the single player mode in favor of having your car dynamically change colors when repaired, Ghost Games look to be bringing back some of the customization options that have been lacking in recent releases.
Glossy, metallic and pearlescent paint options are back with numerous sliders to tail things to your exact tastes. Likewise for your rims. Stripes and all manner of patterns from Japanese kanji to digital camouflage are also shown off in the trailer. New “tech slots” can activate abilities like EMP’s, roadblocks and spike strips assigned to help you escape the relentless police.
Ghost Games’ Need for Speed Rivals looks to build on the great reboot the series received from Criterion with Most Wanted and Hot Pursuit, both critically acclaimed racing games which managed to bring Need for Speed back from the depths of tedium and repetition.
