Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare managed to hold off Grand Theft Auto V to become the best selling video game in the month of November 2014.

The NPD sales report has now been released which revealed the best selling games in North America for November 2014. The report covers games that are released on all formats.

November 2014 has been one of the most crowded months in recent video game memory. A lot of games were released that month and most of the big franchises managed to secure a good position on the top 10 chart.

Activison should be glad to know that Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was the best selling game of the entire month. Call of Duty games usually dominate in November, but it faced some competition with Grand Theft Auto V this year.

Rockstar on the other hand should be happy they came second in November 2014 since Grand Theft Auto V is a remake. This means lots of players decided to upgrade and purchase the game for PS4 and Xbox One.

Nintendo will be happy too as Super Smash Bros. came in third for the month. This is good news as it means a lot of people are buying the Wii U specifically to play the game. Nintendo also had the two 3DS Pokemon games in the top 10 as well.

The only company that might be disappointed is Ubisoft. Far Cry 4 did well positioning in sixth place. However, Assassin’s Creed Unity only placed in ninth. Assassin’s Creed is Ubisoft’s flagship title and it usually places higher each year. The buggy launch may have affected its sales.
