Oddworld Inhabitants have today confirmed that Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty, their remake of the original Oddworld game, is scheduled for release on Xbox One on March 27th.
Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty will launch via the ID@Xbox self-publishing program and will see main character Abe making his Xbox One debut. The launch also marks the first Oddworld title to be released on Xbox since Stranger’s Wrath back in 2005. Developed by Just Add Water, the game is a “ground-up” remake of the 1997 classic Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee. Back with improved graphics and enhanced audio the team has aimed to make only a few changes to the much-adored gameplay.
The game itself is best described as a cinematic platform adventure title. It follows the journey of the hero of the day Abe, a simple Mudokon; as he discovers what truly happens behind the scenes at the meat factory he works in. At the start of the game Abe learns that both himself and his fellow Mudokon workers are soon to be on the menu. This is where the journey begins as Abe sets out to escape RuptureFarms and save as many of his fellow workers along the way.
Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty will be available to download from the Xbox One Games Store on March 27 for $19.99, €19.99 and £14.99.
