Dragon Ball Super Episode 2 Impressions: Vegeta’s Family Trip

Here is your weekly Dragon Ball Super episode impressions. This week is the second episode focusing on Vegeta taking out Trunks and Bulma on a family trip.

As always, there will be spoilers so read at your own discretion. It will just be an overview of what happens in each episode.

Before we get to see Vegeta, it starts off showing King Kai on his planet. Nothing really important happens in this first scene as Goku comes over to say hello and decides to train. This is pretty much all that Goku gets to do here. He starts training and then we see Vegeta.

Vegeta, Trunks and Bulma are on vacation and the first thing they do is go to the mall to get Trunks some new clothes. This is a humorous scene as Vegeta is zoning out and not caring about anything. We also get a montage of pictures on their holiday with Vegeta not caring about anything.

The montage showed the family riding on a train, eating ice-cream and even Trunks getting a jack-in-a-box toy. It’s not a scene that will advance the story, but it’s nice to see a different side of the characters. We rarely get to see Vegeta having “fun”.

The only time Vegeta has fun in this Dragon Ball Super episode is when they start eating. As we already know, Saiyans love eating and this is the only time we see him feel any sort of enjoyment from the family trip. However, Vegeta gets annoyed when an Octopus comes out and squirts oil on him. Trunks and Bulma have to restrain him from getting too angry.

My favorite scene this week is when Vegeta and the others go and see a concert. There’s a performance on stage with fire dancers and more. Vegeta is not amused getting stuck in the middle of a crowd pushing and shoving him all of the time. The person on stage also calls him “ojisan” which pretty much means “old man” or “middle aged man”.

Obviously, this annoys Vegeta and he powers up to break free from the crowd. He flies off back home to train and thinks how about how he can get stronger than Goku. They cut back to Goku briefly showing how his training is going on King Kai’s planet.

The rest of the second episode of Dragon Ball Super focuses on Beerus and Whis. Beerus wants Whis to find him a new challenger to fight. They go to an alien planet to find a creature with four arms and four eyes. He looks impressive, but he is no match for Beerus. This was the only action we got from this episode.

Beerus then destroys the planet and this causes Old Kai to get scared when he’s talking to Kibito Kai. The end of the episode has Beerus talking about a “Super Saiyan God” existing somewhere out in the universe because he’s had visions of it. Beerus wants to fight this Super Saiyan God. We know that this will be Goku.
