Star Wars Battlefront Developer Calls Out Critics For “Bending The Truth”

The recent beta test for Star Wars Battlefront was a somewhat polarizing slice of the game.  Offering a chance to play three of the modes in the upcoming shooter, many criticized the beta for its lack of depth in the gameplay itself, as well as its pricey season pass and other add-on content.

One Youtuber in particular, Angry Joe Vargas got DICE level designer Daniel Cambrand to respond to the criticism.  The level artist that has worked on Star Wars Battlefront and Battlefield 4 was showed Joe’s video in which he rails on the Season Pass for the game, which Cambrand called the claims “highly unimpressive.”

Cambrand issued a number of tweets directed at the video, calling it a ploy to grab headlines.  “Highly unimpressive,” said Cambrand via Twitter.  “He’s wrong on so many facts and is outright guessing, yet he rants like he knows.  Its tiring & cliche tbh.” “That’s why I usually don’t bother with those ppl; they love to make headlines & don’t care if they bend the truth to get heard.”

Joe is saying what a lot of people are thinking about Battlefront.  Following the recent announcement of a pricey season pass for the game, many assume that the developers have taken content out of the base game to make more money from offering this content later on as downloadable content.  Cambrand claims that DICE is “working hard to get as much in there as possible,” and that this additional content being included in the base game would lead to DICE having to delay Star Wars: Battlefront.

DICE revealed the Star Wars: Battlefront Season Pass during the beta for the game and will cost an additional $49.99 on top of the $59.99 base game.  It’s said to include new maps with new locations for the multiplayer-only shooter as well as two-week early access to the maps.

Star Wars: Battlefront is slated for release on November 17th for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC via Origin — you can check out our impressions of the Star Wars: Battlefront Beta here.
