Digimon Adventure Tri was seemingly teased forever before finally being announced as a 6-part movie series, rather than a rumored anime series. The first movie titled Reunion was already set to release in Japan on November 21, but fans outside of Japan got a major surprise last night involving news of the streaming of it.
In a completely last minute announcement, anime streaming service Crunchyroll announced late last night that they would in fact be streaming Digimon Adventure Tri for those outside of Japan, including the US, Canada, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Latin America.
While you might think this wouldn’t be coming until a later time, especially with the timing coming just before the Japanese release date. The even bigger news is that we are getting it today, as in it is going up within mere minutes of this posting.
Starting at 10 am EST today, November 20, Digimon Adventure Tri will be available for streaming through Crunchyroll for members.
Crunchyroll has been a fantastic service for awhile for simultaneous streams of anime, but this one is a major surprise to get, especially since it’s a movie instead of a series. The interesting thing is that Crunchyroll is actually uploading this movie as four “episodes” though, but that may just be in how they had to upload it.
If you get a chance to check out Digimon Adventure Tri, let us know what you think in the comments below. I know I’ll certainly be watching this weekend as a longtime fan. Also remember that Crunchyroll offers free trials for those that want to check it out and see what else they have to offer.
