Kingdom Hearts is obviously a video game franchise, but the series has potential to be translated into other mediums. In fact, an animated TV series was in the works a few years ago but it sadly never got made.
According to KHInsider, director Kevin Munroe confirmed to Official PlayStation Magazine UK that he worked on the pilot of the animated Kingdom Hearts TV show. Sadly, he said the show did not get picked up by Disney and now he’s working on the Ratchet and Clank movie instead.
Munroe also shared with KHInsider a cover for the script. It was called “Man’s Red Fire” and it was going to take place in The Jungle Book world. The Jungle Book has been missing in the Kingdom Hearts video game series as it never featured as a world before. It was cut in the first game and then again in Birth By Sleep.
It will be interesting to see if The Jungle Book eventually makes it into the third game. After all, a new live action movie is on the way later this year and this might rekindle people’s interest in the franchise.
Disney is a huge empire now and a lot of new worlds could be added into the third game. Disney Infinity has pretty much confirmed that Star Wars and Marvel characters are allowed to be in one game. One has to wonder if these characters suit starring in Kingdom Hearts 3…
