Back in 2014 it was revealed that Shigeru Miyamoto was working on three different games, Star Fox Zero and two games that were somehow connected to it called Project Guard and Project Giant Robot. These games haven’t really been mentioned in a long time, but it has now been revealed that Project Guard is back and is known as Star Fox Guard.
Today’s Nintendo Direct focused on games for the Wii U and 3DS that would be releasing through Summer 2016. As a result, Star Fox Zero was focused on largely in the beginning portion.
After talking about Zero, Miyamoto revealed that his Project Guard game was finally completely and was now called Star Fox Guard. This game stars Slippy and his uncle Grippy, the latter of which is responsible for gathering rich metals in space. However, Grippy is under attack by enemies, so Slippy must utilize his own security system to fend them off.
He also revealed that Project Guard will have over 100 missions to play, where you will be shifting between cameras to destroy the attacking enemies. You can also set up your own enemy patterns to shake up the gameplay, which can then be uploaded online for others to try out as well.
Making the game even better was the reveal that Star Fox Guard will actually come packaged with Star Fox Zero when it launches on April 22 for Wii U. Those buying digitally can buy them separately, but they will end up being the same total price as the packaged version if done this way. This definitely adds a lot more to the experience and should really be a lot of fun to try out next month when both release.
