Some scenes of Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens were shot in IMAX and looked amazing. Well it appears Disney has given Rian Johnson permission to shoot some scenes of Star Wars: Episode 8 in the format too.

As reported by Star Wars News, some lucky fans in Ireland had a chance to see some of the cast and crew at a local bar the other day as they were celebrating their last day shooting in Ireland.

Anyway, one lucky fan had a chance to speak with Rian Johnson who is the director of Star Wars: Episode 8. Johnson was kind enough to tell him on how much the new film will be shot in IMAX.

Johnson said: “Oh yeah, we’re shooting a little bit of IMAX, it’s my first time using it, I love it.” This goes to show us that only a few scenes will have the luxury of being shot in IMAX. This is unlike Avengers: Infinity War where both movies will be shot entirely in IMAX.

The Millennium Falcon scene in Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens was shot in IMAX and looked great in the format. We can be sure that Star Wars: Episode 8 will also have epic action sequences that will shine in the IMAX format when it comes out in December 2017.
